John Rice Marathon Fundraiser
Two Former G.I.'s Team Up Again!
Former soldiers Captain John Rice and Sergeant John Craven team up for
a civilian mission! Nearly 40 years after serving together with A Company,
70th Combat Engineer BN, John Rice is training to run his first marathon
at 62.
“Why?” you ask. John says, it’s for two reasons:
• “It’s on my bucket list”
and more importantly,
• “Now I have a cause”.
That cause is
to help raise
the remaining funds for the Hoang Van Thu
Junior High School near M’Drak, Vietnam where both men served in 1969.
The school,
educating 284 students, is dedicated in memory of Three A Company comrades who died on
October 4, 1969.
John Rice recently created a blog site and updates it regularly during his eighteen-week training schedule for the January 17, 2010, P. F. Chang Rock & Roll Marathon to be held in Phoenix, AZ.
