The D.O.V.E. Fund 2010 Golf Outing Report

Inverness Golfers Victorious Again
For the second year in a row, the team of Denny and Doug Spencer along with John Hills and Dave Risley triumphed over the biggest field ever in the 10th Annual D.O.V.E. Fund outing.

Outlasting the weather and the competition, these veteran players used their vast tournament experience to skillfully master the tough greens at the beautiful South Toledo Golf Club.

Owner/Operator Greg Fish, also a D.O.V.E. Fund Trustee, along with wife, Raynell were again the gracious hosts for the annual fund raiser which benefit the impoverished in Vietnam.

Golf Chair, Bob Culp was delighted with the turnout and expressed his appreciation for all those in attendance.  “With the economic downturn in Toledo, it is remarkable to have so many join us in our mission to help others so far away”

Following play, D.O.V.E. Trustee John Craven, grabbed his guitar and sang a few tunes while golfers enjoyed conversation and cocktails. Following a sumptuous prime rib dinner, D.O.V.E. Chairman Bob Durbin introduced all the trustees of the D.O.V.E. Fund and noted all the veterans in the audience.

A special honor went to D.O.V.E. Vice Chair of Vietnam Projects, Fred Grimm, who was recently honored with the prestigious Jefferson award for his humanitarian work in Vietnam.

Participants were also treated to songs by Toledo based entertainer Darryl Gatlin and his fiancée Andrea Ison who sang the national anthem. Gatlin, a cousin of the famous Gatlin Brothers country group, also played in the outing for the first time and was inspired by the mission of the D.O.V.E. Fund.

As the D.O.V.E. Fund celebrates its 10th anniversary, Chairman Durbin noted our long time hole sponsors. These corporate citizens return each year to support our efforts while enjoying a day of fun and fellowship with clients and friends.

The D.O.V.E. Fund also presented Greg and Raynell Fish with an award for the generous use of the South Toledo Golf club as hosts for the annual outing.  Many thanks to Greg and Raynell.
